PVSC is 100% volunteer-powered, so we’re always looking for members and others to lend a hand.
One of the most important ways to lend a hand is to help with our annual ski sale that occurs each October. See more ski sale info here. Members are needed for a few hours on Thursday and Friday evenings to help set up, during the day on Saturday, and clean up Saturday evening. Proceeds from the sale help fund PVSC’s budget, which includes youth programming, Nordic grooming, trips and other events.
The general operations of the club take a significant amount of time and energy from the board of directors and committee chairs. If there is a committee that particularly interests you, feel free to contact the chairperson and ask how you can help. If you have a professional skill (web design, grant writing, etc.) that you’d like share, contact the club president.
The Nordic programs in Orono and Hampden have a number of needs each year. The coaches try very hard to put together quality programs for participants, and this means they host races, events and lots of practices. Specifically, they can use help coaching (they are happy to help train you – enthusiasm is the most important skill!), organizing races and events and grooming.
Youth alpine programs can always use a hand on the slopes. There are races and practices where extra hands are welcome. PVSC coaches are happy to help train folks for the more skilled jobs, such as timing races.
